The Pooja System
Including ‘Navakam’ and ‘Sreebhoothabali’, there are five poojas designed to be performed to suit the system of Mahakshethra. But when the land reforms act curtailed the revenue of all the temples, naturally, Trikkur Mahadeva Temple did not stand out. Three poojas and a nivedyam are now being performed on a daily basis. Opening at 5 in the morning, abhishekam and malar nivedyam will be carried out after which the idol is decorated (alankaram). At 6.45am Usha Nivedyam and at 7.15 AM Usha Pooja will be performed. Ucha pooja starts by 9:30 AM, which involves dharas and abhishekams with water, milk, Gingelly oil, tender coconut water etc. By 11AM, the temple will be closed.

Reopening by five in the eve, deepaaradhana is performed after the sunset, without closing the door of sanctum sanctorum. Athazhapooja will be performed by 7:15pm and by 7:45pm, the temple will be closed again. Ganapathy homam and Bhagavatseva is carried out daily in the temple.
